Doha: Qatar University (QU) honored its female student athletes in recognition of their outstanding achievements at the Second Gulf University Sports Championship for Female Students 2026, during a ceremony held at the Student Affairs Building and attended by Dr. Mohamed Diab, Vice President for Student Affairs, along with University leadership and staff.

The recognition followed QU’s remarkable performance at the championship, held from February 6 to 11, 2026, where its student athletes secured multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals in both team and individual competitions, leading the overall standings of the tournament.
Key results included:
- Gold medals in Futsal, Volleyball, and Padel.
- Athletics: Two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.
- Fencing: Silver and bronze medals.
- Table Tennis: Second place (team and individual).
- Basketball (3×3): Silver medal.
- Badminton: Silver medal.
Commenting on the results, Ms. Amina AbdulAziz M ِِA Alkaabi, Section Head of Women’s Athletics at the Student Affairs, stated that the victory reflects the advanced level of women’s sports at QU and the strong competitive spirit demonstrated by the students. She emphasized that this success is the result of continuous institutional support and the dedicated efforts of the administrative and technical teams.
She added, “We are proud of our champions’ achievements at this Gulf-level event. This accomplishment reflects the University’s commitment to developing students’ capabilities across all fields and representing Qatar and QU with distinction at the regional level.”
She concluded by congratulating all participating students and reaffirming QU’s continued commitment to supporting student athletics as a core element of its comprehensive educational experience.
