Doha: The Health, General Services and Environment Committee of the Shura Council held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss a proposed law on the digital protection of children, following the council’s decision to refer the draft legislation to the committee for further study.
The meeting was chaired by HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanem.
During the session, members reviewed a number of observations and viewpoints related to the proposal, along with legislative and regulatory frameworks aimed at enhancing child protection in the digital environment.
The discussions also addressed mechanisms to promote the safe and responsible use of modern technologies and digital platforms among children, in line with growing challenges associated with the digital world.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee decided to continue studying the proposal during a future session.
