Zurich: HE Minister of State at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, met on Friday with HE State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Alexandre Fasel, on the sidelines of the 2026 MAS ETH Mediation in Peace Processes Policy Forum in Zurich.
The meeting focused on the strong bilateral relations between Qatar and Switzerland and explored opportunities to further expand cooperation across a range of sectors of mutual interest.
The two officials also reviewed the latest regional developments, with particular emphasis on efforts to de-escalate tensions and enhance security and stability across the region. Discussions covered ongoing mediation initiatives between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, highlighting the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement and dialogue in addressing outstanding issues through peaceful means.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Khulaifi reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts that foster dialogue, build trust, and reduce regional tensions. He stressed that diplomacy remains a vital tool for resolving disputes, strengthening regional security and stability, and creating the conditions necessary for sustainable agreements that serve mutual interests and help prevent further escalation.
