London: The State of Qatar, represented by its Permanent Delegation to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), participated in the 13th session of the IMO Sub-Committee on Navigation, Communications and Search and Rescue (NCSR 13), held at the organization’s headquarters in London.
Qatar’s participation reflects its commitment to supporting international efforts to strengthen maritime safety, improve the efficiency of navigation and communications systems, and enhance search and rescue services, contributing to the protection of lives at sea and advancing the IMO’s strategic objectives.
During the session, delegates discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of maritime navigation and communications systems, as well as measures to improve global search and rescue services.
The sub-committee also reviewed proposals to update maritime routes and strengthen technical guidance and supporting evidence aimed at enhancing the safety, security and efficiency of international maritime transport.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Qatar’s delegation reaffirmed the importance of expanding international cooperation in the fields of maritime navigation and search and rescue. The delegation also stressed the need to continue developing regulatory and technical frameworks that promote safe and secure maritime navigation in accordance with relevant international conventions and instruments.
