Doha: Qatar University (QU) organized a forum highlighting the growing importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace and its role in facilitating daily tasks, improving productivity, and enhancing operational efficiency.
In a press release issued Wednesday, QU stated that the forum aligns with its strategic objectives to strengthen employee capabilities, promote continuous learning, and support institutional empowerment while keeping pace with rapid technological advancements.
Opening the forum, QU Vice President for Strategy and Institutional Effectiveness Dr. Muna Al Marzouqi stressed the importance of developing professional skills in an evolving work environment increasingly shaped by AI technologies. She noted that AI has become an integral part of professional practices across various sectors.
Dr. Al Marzouqi also addressed challenges associated with the use of AI tools, emphasizing the need for ethical and responsible application in accordance with QU’s approved policies and guidelines.
For her part, Assistant Professor of Media at QU Dr. Sarah Al Derham delivered a presentation on the use of AI tools to improve work quality and support the preparation of projects and presentations. She highlighted the importance of reviewing and verifying content accuracy and remaining aware of potential biases in AI-generated outputs.
Dr. Al Derham emphasized that AI serves as a supportive tool that enhances productivity without replacing human expertise or professional judgment.
The forum witnessed strong engagement from participants, who shared their experiences and perspectives on the impact of AI on their professional lives. Attendees expressed appreciation for learning about new technologies that can help improve the speed and efficiency of daily tasks, enhance content creation and presentation skills, and encourage dialogue on the challenges posed by AI technologies and ways to address them.
