Doha: The Arabic Book Award organized an intellectual seminar on the Arabic book and cultural identity, with the participation of a select group of academics and researchers from Qatar and the Arab world, and in the presence of a large number of intellectuals and interested parties, as part of the activities accompanying the ceremony honoring the winners in the third edition of the award in Doha.
Executive Director of the Arab Book Award Dr. Naji Al Sharif emphasized the importance of the seminar which comes within the framework of the award’s vision to be a global leader in honoring scientific and intellectual excellence and highlighting original intellectual contributions. It also falls within its mission to contribute to enriching the Arab library by encouraging individuals and institutions to present the best knowledge production in the fields of social and human sciences.
The seminar addressed the issue of identity in the Arabic book from multiple epistemological, historical and critical perspectives, revealing the role of the book in building cultural awareness, representing the self, and understanding the relationship of the self to the other throughout the ages.
