Doha: The Organizing Committee of the Fourth Gulf Games Doha 2026 honored 280 male and female volunteers during a recognition ceremony held at the headquarters of the Qatar Olympic Committee, in appreciation of their outstanding contributions to the successful staging of the Games, which took place in Doha from May 11 to 22.
The ceremony underscored the vital role volunteers played in supporting the organizational and operational aspects of the multi-sport event, helping deliver an exceptional edition that showcased Qatar’s world-class sporting infrastructure and reinforced its reputation as a leading destination for major international sporting events.
Opening the ceremony, Chairman of the Volunteers Committee Ahmed Al Jaber expressed his sincere appreciation to all volunteers for their dedication, commitment, and professionalism throughout the Games.
He praised their contributions across a wide range of responsibilities, including welcoming delegations, assisting athletes and spectators, and supporting operational teams at competition venues and sports facilities. Their efforts, he noted, were instrumental in ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for all participants.
Al Jaber emphasized that volunteers were among the key pillars behind the success of the Games and true partners in achieving its objectives. Their commitment, sense of responsibility, and positive spirit, he said, reflected the highest values of volunteerism, teamwork, and community service.
Speaking on behalf of the volunteers, Hassan Al Tamimi, a volunteer with special needs, thanked the organizing committee for providing opportunities for all segments of society to contribute to the Gulf sporting event.
He said the experience helped participants develop administrative, organizational, and technical skills while enhancing their personal and professional growth. He added that volunteers are eager to continue supporting future sporting events and championships hosted by Qatar.
Volunteer Iman Mohammed Al Fawzai, a teacher at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, described her participation as an enriching and rewarding experience that expanded her knowledge and broadened her personal horizons.
She commended the high level of organization and professional coordination that contributed to the success of the Games, while highlighting the opportunity to connect with people from diverse nationalities and cultures through a volunteer framework that promotes openness, inclusion, and social cohesion.
Volunteer recruitment for the Fourth Gulf Games Doha 2026 was managed through the Al Adaam Volunteer Platform, an integrated digital initiative launched by the Qatar Olympic Committee to oversee volunteer programs, assign tasks, and coordinate volunteer participation across major sporting events.
The platform forms part of the committee’s strategic efforts to promote a culture of volunteerism and sustainability. It is expected to play a key role in supporting upcoming events, including the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship 2029, and the Asian Games Doha 2030, ensuring efficient volunteer management and enhancing the overall participant experience in line with international best practices.
