His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani attended the 9th Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence (ACE) Award ceremony, held on Tuesday morning at Katara Hall in the Fairmont and Raffles Hotels, Doha.
The event was attended by several high-level dignitaries, including HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, alongside ministers, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Qatar, senior officials, and distinguished guests.
A documentary film showcased during the ceremony highlighted the ACE Award’s journey and impact in promoting integrity and combating corruption worldwide. The film also underscored the achievements of past and current award recipients, recognizing their leadership, innovation, and commitment to advancing transparency and accountability.
During the ceremony, His Highness honoured Professor Nikos Passas and Dr. Marianne Camerer, recipients of the Academic Research and Educational Materials Award. The Innovation and Investigative Journalism Award was presented to Gloria Pallares-Venials, Tatenda Chitagu, and Andiswa Matekenka.
His Highness also recognized Mar Niang and Motiullah Wesa with the Youth Creativity and Engagement Award, while Drago Kos and Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili received the Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Achievement Award.
The ceremony featured remarks by HE Acting Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) John Brandolino, HE Acting Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Alexandre Zouev, and HE Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Award Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri.
The event was attended by members of the Award’s Higher and Advisory Committees, the Executive Committee, representatives of the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC), and international researchers specializing in anti-corruption efforts.
