Evian, France: His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met today with HE Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America, on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in the French city of Evian-les-Bains.
HH The Amir reaffirmed the strength of the strategic relations between Qatar and the United States, noting the significant trade partnership that has developed since the U.S. President’s visit to Qatar last year. His Highness also affirmed that the State of Qatar has major investments in the United States, alongside U.S. investments in Qatar, expressing his satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries.
His Highness also expressed his appreciation for the U.S. President’s efforts during this critical stage in the Middle East, reiterating the two countries’ commitment to supporting regional peace and stability. He welcomed the agreement between the United States and Iran and reaffirmed Qatar’s support for efforts to reach a lasting agreement that would enhance security and stability in the region.
At the outset of the meeting, the U.S. President expressed his appreciation to HH The Amir, praising the friendly relations between them and the esteem in which His Highness is held. He also referred to the agreement between the United States and Iran and its second phase, while commending Qatar’s role in managing the crisis.
Speaking about economic relations, the U.S. President expressed his appreciation for Qatar’s major investments in the United States, highlighting his country’s capabilities in industry, artificial intelligence, and automobile manufacturing, as well as the opportunities they provide for further strengthening economic cooperation.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed the latest regional and international developments, particularly those in the Middle East and efforts to enhance stability, foremost among them ensuring the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the uninterrupted flow of international trade.
The meeting also addressed the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran concerning outstanding issues, as well as diplomatic efforts related to regional crises and coordination between the two countries on issues of mutual interest, including energy security and economic cooperation.
The meeting was attended by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Chief of the Amiri Diwan; and a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH The Amir.
The meeting was also attended by HE Marco Rubio, Secretary of State; HE Scott Bessent, Secretary of the Treasury; and a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HE the President.
