Doha: The Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) has launched a trilateral joint urban search and rescue exercise involving specialized teams from Qatar, France, and Syria, under the patronage of HE Minister of Interior and Commander of Lekhwiya, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

The exercise, which runs from June 7 to June 12, brings together the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group, the France1 and France2 search and rescue teams, and the Syria Civil Defense.

Designed to strengthen international cooperation in disaster response, the exercise features realistic simulations of urban search and rescue operations, allowing participating teams to test and enhance their capabilities in dealing with complex emergency situations.

The drill also serves as a platform for exchanging expertise, sharing best practices, and improving operational readiness, while reinforcing coordination mechanisms among participating teams for future international humanitarian and rescue missions.

The initiative reflects the commitment of the participating countries to advancing search and rescue capabilities and fostering closer collaboration in responding to emergencies and natural disasters.
