Doha: The Department of Penal and Correctional Institutions welcomed a delegation from Oman’s Ministry of Interior during an official visit focused on exchanging expertise and reviewing best practices in rehabilitation and correctional services.

The delegation was received by Director of the Department of Penal and Correctional Institutions Major General Nasser Mohammed Issa Al Sayed, Assistant Director Colonel Yousef Bilal Al Abdullah, and Assistant Director General of Communications and Information Systems Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Jassim Khalid Al Hamar, along with several senior officers.

The Omani delegation, headed by HE Major General Khalifa bin Ali Al Siyabi, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Administrative Affairs, was briefed on Qatar’s key rehabilitation and correctional initiatives, including vocational training programs, social support services, and healthcare provided to inmates.

Officials also highlighted ongoing efforts to develop a comprehensive correctional environment aligned with international humanitarian standards and aimed at supporting inmates’ successful reintegration into society.

During the visit, the delegation toured several facilities and reviewed the operational systems and procedures used in the management of correctional institutions. The visit comes within the framework of strengthening security cooperation and enhancing the exchange of expertise between the Ministries of Interior of the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman.
