Doha: HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that the security and stability enjoyed by Qatar are a blessing granted by the grace of Allah, and sustained through the wise leadership of HH the Amir, the cohesion of society and its trust in its leadership, and the efforts of state institutions and their national cadres.
During his chairing of the weekly meeting of the Cabinet held today at the Amiri Diwan, HE the Prime Minister noted that HH the Amir has directed the continuation of diligent efforts to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of services across all sectors.
HE the Prime Minister commended the role of the Qatar Armed Forces, which demonstrated a high level of readiness and efficiency in protecting the nation’s airspace and safeguarding its security. He also praised the efforts of the security agencies in maintaining the safety and stability of society, and expressed his pride in the awareness, responsibility and cohesion demonstrated by the Qatari society under such circumstances,
HE also condemned the military escalation unfolding in the region, the repercussions of which have extended to targeting Qatari territory and certain civilian and vital facilities.
For its part, the Cabinet strongly condemned the continued unjustified Iranian attacks on the State of Qatar’s territory and on the territories of brotherly countries, describing them as a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and the principles of good neighbourliness, and noting the serious implications they pose for regional security and the global economy.
The Cabinet affirmed that the State of Qatar will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and security, and to protect its people and national interests in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and international law, as reflected in its communications to the United Nations Security Council. The Cabinet also called for an immediate halt to any escalation, urged prioritising dialogue, and stressed the importance of intensified diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis and preserve regional security.
