Cairo, Egypt: Qatar received multiple accolades at the International Forum of Arab Women in Diplomacy, held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo in cooperation with the Arab Council for Social Responsibility, marking the International Day of Arab Women Diplomats.
Among the highest honours, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater was awarded the Arab Woman Excellence Shield for Social Responsibility 2026 in recognition of her leadership at the national, regional and international levels in advancing education, supporting society and serving as an inspiring model of Arab women’s leadership. The award was accepted on her behalf by Khalid Abdullah Al Ibrahim, Counselor at the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Egypt and its Permanent Delegation to the League of Arab States.
Director of the Department of Private Schools and Kindergartens at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Rania Yousri Mohammed received the Arab Woman Social Responsibility Award 2026 for the ministry’s Social Responsibility Project in Private Schools and Kindergartens.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr. Mohammed said Qatar’s experience in promoting social responsibility was presented to participating Arab countries to facilitate the exchange of expertise and strengthen a culture of solidarity among schools, students, parents and relevant government entities. She expressed hope that the initiative would expand equitable access to high-quality education in Qatar’s private schools while contributing to broader community development goals.
HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti was also honoured with the Arab Woman Social Responsibility Award in recognition of her distinguished contributions to parliamentary and community work and her efforts to promote the values of social responsibility. Khalid Abdullah Al Ibrahim received the award on her behalf.
The forum further recognised Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Egypt and Deputy Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States Maryam Ahmed Al Shibi for her outstanding contributions to diplomacy, strengthening joint Arab cooperation, advancing social responsibility and supporting the empowerment of women in diplomacy.
In remarks to QNA, Al Shibi said the recognition reflects appreciation for the achievements of Qatari women and Qatar’s commitment to empowering women and expanding their participation in decision-making in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
She described the award as an incentive to continue serving communities and reinforcing the role of Arab women in peacebuilding and sustainable development, dedicating the honour to Arab women across the region and to Qatari women in particular.
The forum brought together senior diplomats, policymakers and representatives from regional and international development and media organisations to celebrate the achievements of Arab women in diplomacy and public service.
