Geneva: HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri met with HE Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Gilbert Houngbo on the sidelines of the International Labour Conference, currently taking place in Geneva.

During the meeting, the two sides explored ways to enhance cooperation between the State of Qatar and the ILO, reaffirming their commitment to advancing collaborative efforts in the labour sector and strengthening existing partnerships.

Discussions also focused on the progress of the joint work programme between Qatar and the ILO, whose extension was signed last year. The programme aims to further improve the work environment, boost the competitiveness of the national workforce, and support the development and training of national talent in line with evolving labour market requirements.

The meeting underscored the importance of continued cooperation in promoting sustainable labour market reforms, advancing workforce development initiatives, and aligning employment policies with international best practices.
