Cairo, Egypt: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Interior (MOI), participated in the 23rd Arab Conference of Heads of Correctional and Reform Institutions, held in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt.

Qatar’s delegation was led by Major General Nasser Mohammed Issa Al Sayed, Director of the MOI’s General Directorate of Penal and Correctional Institutions.

The conference brought together representatives from Arab countries to discuss key issues aimed at strengthening correctional and rehabilitation systems across the region. Topics included reviewing the implementation of recommendations adopted at the previous conference, sharing member states’ experiences and best practices, and exploring digital transformation and the adoption of modern technologies to enhance correctional and rehabilitation institutions.

The participants also exchanged expertise on improving institutional performance and rehabilitation services, underscoring the importance of regional collaboration in advancing correctional work.

The conference concluded with the adoption of a number of decisions and recommendations aimed at strengthening Arab cooperation, promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and supporting the continued development of correctional and rehabilitation institutions throughout the region.
