Geneva: The State of Qatar participated in the 64th session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, held on Thursday in Geneva, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly meetings.
HE Minister of Public Health Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud headed Qatar’s delegation to the high-level session, which brought together Arab health ministers and senior officials to discuss pressing regional and international health priorities.
The meeting reviewed the deteriorating health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including occupied east Jerusalem (Al-Quds), as well as the occupied Syrian Golan. Ministers also discussed mechanisms for coordinating a unified Arab stance to protect regional priorities amid ongoing efforts to reform the global health governance system.
Participants further examined the role of the Arab Fund for Health Development in strengthening healthcare systems across the region and supporting sustainable health initiatives.
The session also addressed the Arab Strategy for improving maternal, child, and adolescent health in Arab countries, alongside discussions on promoting the right to family planning in the Arab States in line with resolutions of the Arab Economic and Social Council.
In addition, ministers reviewed studies analyzing the challenges and opportunities associated with low fertility rates in the region, as well as developments related to the Arab Authority for Blood Transfusion Services and ways to enhance regional cooperation in blood safety and healthcare services.
