Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has conducted a workshop with Qatari Diar to strengthen coordination on environmental assessment and permitting procedures for development projects, reinforcing efforts to support sustainable urban growth.

Organized by the ministry’s Environmental Assessment and Permits Department, the workshop brought together officials and specialists from both organizations to enhance understanding of environmental regulations governing development projects and improve collaboration in implementing them.

The ministry said the session aimed to raise awareness of the environmental requirements for development projects, explain the procedures for obtaining environmental assessments and permits, and promote the protection of natural resources in line with Qatar’s sustainable development goals.

During the workshop, officials outlined the department’s responsibilities in developing and implementing environmental standards for projects and facilities, overseeing environmental impact assessments, reviewing environmental studies, and issuing the permits and approvals required for development activities.

Participants were also briefed on the stages involved in obtaining environmental permits, including application and follow-up procedures, as well as the technical requirements for environmental impact assessment studies. Discussions focused on key challenges and best practices to help accelerate project implementation while ensuring full compliance with Qatar’s environmental regulations.

The ministry also showcased its automated digital services, available through its official website and the Bee’ah mobile application, which allow companies and institutions to submit applications, upload supporting documents, track requests, and receive environmental approvals and permits electronically.

The workshop concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which ministry specialists addressed participants’ inquiries and reviewed technical guidelines for urban and development projects. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to providing technical support and guidance to its partners in support of Qatar’s continued urban and economic development while safeguarding the environment.
