Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) has unveiled the State of the Environment Report of the State of Qatar 2025 during the Doha International Book Fair 2026 (DIBF), highlighting the country’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and ecological protection.
The launch event was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Nature Reserves Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Latif Al Musallamani, alongside several ministry officials, environmental specialists, and visitors to the exhibition.
The report marks the second edition of one of Qatar’s flagship national environmental publications, issued periodically to monitor and evaluate the country’s environmental conditions while tracking national efforts aimed at protecting natural resources and promoting sustainability.
Director of the Technical Office at the Ministry, Engineer Hussein Al Kubaisi, said the report is based on modern environmental data and indicators, offering a comprehensive assessment of the nation’s environmental status.
Al Kubaisi explained that the publication analyses major environmental challenges and the corresponding national responses, helping support planning and decision-making processes while strengthening sustainable development and environmental awareness.
He added that the report reviews developments in Qatar’s environmental landscape over the past five years, showcasing key national achievements and environmental indicators in line with the Integrated Environmental Assessment methodology.
The report was prepared through the collaboration of experts, researchers, and specialists from academic and research institutions across Qatar, reflecting enhanced cooperation among national entities concerned with environmental affairs.
Al Kubaisi also noted that environmental reports of this kind are regularly published by many countries worldwide, including GCC nations, in line with recommendations issued by meetings of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs.
He further pointed out that the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) periodically publishes the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) report, which assesses environmental conditions on a global scale.
